At its 159th Plenary session held on 12th October, 2023, the Legal Practitioners’ Privileges Committee (LPPC) under the Chairmanship of the Hon. Chief Justice of Nigeria , Hon. Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, GCON, has approved the elevation of the Attorney General of Kaduna State – Sule Shu’aibu, ESQ, Abiola Isiaq Oyebanji, ESQ, Chris Umar, Esq. and 55 other Legal Practitioners to the Inner Bar.
The news of the approved elevation of the three seasoned Legal Practitioners from Kaduna Branch of the NBA was received with joy, happiness and a widespread jubilation. While many termed it “payer answered”, others attributed it to dedication, hard work and resilience. In the words of the immediate past Chairman of Kaduna Branch – M.T. Mohammed, Esq. “I prayed so hard this should happen during my chairmanship … [but] God’s time is the best.” “We have three (3) SANs from our Branch! Alhamdulilah!” – the Leader of the Kaduna Bar Yunus Ustaz Usman, SAN exclaimed.
As the Chairman of the Premier Bar – Chief Godwin Ochai, Esq. congratulated the trio on behalf of the entire Kaduna Bar, the former Chairman of the Branch Nndasule Sherif, Esq. also extended his heartfelt felicitations to his friend JONATHAN TAIDI GUNU, ESQ – the former General Secretary of the Nigerian Bar Association during Olumide Akpata led NEC for the great feat.
According to the statement signed by the Chief Registrar of the Supreme Court of Nigeria/Secretary LPPC – Hajo Sarki Bello, Esq. “the meeting further considered four (4) different petitions written against some of the applicants and determined that each of the petition lacked merit and thus dismissed“.
We have noticed that Prof. Benedicta Lopez Dauda, who was allegedly caught cheating during examination in University of Jos did not make the final list of 58.
